Importance of Learning the Arabic Language!
The Arabic language is considered to be one of the oldest still spoken languages in the world with a great and abundant cultural heritage of poetry and literature whose history can be traced to more than one and half thousand years ago. It is one of the six official languages of the United Nations, and the official language in 22 countries with over 420 million speakers.
However, its great importance comes from its being the language of the Holy Quran. Allah honored and dignified the Arabic language with the privilege of being the language of His Noble Book. Although Arabic speakers are far fewer than the number of Muslims, yet for those Muslims to perform and practice their religious duties and rituals, they have to learn Arabic or at least have a considerable amount of knowledge of it. Arabic is the language of worshipping in Islam, you neither can do prayers nor read Quran except in Arabic.
The second important reason for learning Arabic is to help the children of the Muslim parents who emigrated to non-Arabic countries be connected and remain linked with their Arabic and Islamic roots. The number of Arabs who emigrated, either voluntarily or as refugees, to non-Arabic countries is estimated at millions. Those children grow up in a culture that totally disputes the ethics and morals which their parents were brought up into. This triggers a kind of fear and concern about those kids losing their Islamic Identities. For that, parents aspire to support their kids with access to Arabic learning resources. Thus, many online schools that offer Quran and Arabic learning are constantly established to offer religious learning that aligns with the secular learning kids receive in these countries, and to meet those parents’ exigencies for reassurance on their kids’ religious beliefs.
Are there any other reasons why people seek to learn Arabic, rather than its religious significance? of course, people seek to learn Arabic for economic reasons as well. The Middle East and North Africa are regions that are experiencing significant economic growth. Many markets and investment opportunities are emerging every day. This has led to a greater need for individuals who can communicate effectively in Arabic, thus increasing the demand for learning Arabic.
Fourthly, Arabic is also an important language in many academic fields, including Islamic studies, Middle Eastern studies, and linguistics. As such, there is a need for researchers and scholars who are proficient in Arabic.
There are other reasons for learning Arabic, but those are the most dominant ones.
